Cinnabar Moth

Just a short post today to share this photo of our first Cinnabar Moth (Tyria jacobaeae) sighting in the garden this year.  We discovered them in the garden last year (and successfully identified their chosen food – ragwort!) and I’m delighted to have seen this one today!  I’ve haven’t spotted the ragwort in the garden yet, but we’re trying to keep some for this lovely creatures caterpillars to feed on!  This one was quietly resting on my mint plant enjoying the sunshine.

Exquisite colour juxtaposition, do you think it knew how good it would look next to the fresh green?
