Winter’s Here!

The title of this post I feel says it all, however to expand – I feel that Winter is now very definitely here and Jack Frost has definitely been out and about over the last few days!  On Wednesday I headed over to Godmanchester Nature Reserve as usual to help out with the Spring Common group.  We were continuing to pollard the willows in Mouldings Meadow – a conservation area on the reserve.  Our hope is that once our work is finished there will be more ground-nesting birds encouraged to nest and breed there.

While we were out, I took the opportunity to grab a selection of close-up photos of the beautiful frost that’s been covering everything that last few days and I would like to share them with you!

First up is actually the frost on my car before I set off for the reserve!

Next up is some frost on flat surfaces (such as wood and fences) on the reserve:

And now some very cold flora:

Finally, a few views of the reserve I’ve come to love all year round:

Godmanchester Nature Reserve is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year and if you haven’t, I can’t recommend it enough!  Catch up with my blog next week for some more wintry goodness.  Stay warm – like my little darling Colin in this super-cute bonus picture:
