This week I’m going to share some very special memories with you all. Some of you may have seen these photos appear on Facebook, but here I’ll say a bit more about our time in the New Forest rather than just a very large pile of photos. As an extra special treat, this is going to be a series of eight posts over the next week so be sure to check back every day after 11am to see the next installment! The first seven posts will be each of the days, mostly in order. The last post will be a species spotlight on the fabulous fungi we saw throughout the forest!
Travelling By Steam Train
This is my final post about all the places we visited in the New Forest, but there’s a final post tomorrow where I’m going to show you lots of pictures of fungi that we found! After that, I’ll be going back to my regular once a week posting plan – every Friday! But let’s not think of finishing up, we’ve got more pictures to share!
If you know my new husband, then you’ll know that he’s a tiny bit obsessed with trains. So obviously, when we go on holiday we try to make sure we get a chance to visit a heritage railway. This time we went on the Watercress Line. Its got four stations: Alresford (where we parked and joined the train); Ropley; Medstead and Four Marks; and Alton. We also managed to go when they had a special Wizarding event on. Well…we did go over Halloween! They had done the special event very nicely – something for children to do at every station! We mostly went along for the trains and the chance to take nice train photos, but there was a lovely collection of owls to see which I also really enjoyed.
Today is another day when the photos will speak for themselves and so I don’t really need to say that much. I hope you’ve enjoyed journeying through the New Forest with me and I look forward to seeing you for the final post tomorrow – it’s all about New Forest fungi!
