Species Spotlight: Useful Nature – Nettles

Chinese nettle and cotton plants.  Do they have anything in common?

I couldn’t tell you from a botanists perspective, but for me, they can both be used to spin yarn.  I love that you can make anything from nature if you try hard enough, however, it is important to do it sustainably.

Nettle plants we get here in the UK can also be useful.  The young leaves make for a great tea, and I’ve heard that nettle soup is tasty although I’ve never tried it.

Nature is good to use like that.  Making things we can use.
